One of my favorite recipe books in my collection has to be the Hershey's 1934 Cookbook which has been "Revised and expanded with chocolate recipes brought up to date for use in today's kitchen." On page 120, I found the most delicious milkshake recipe named FROSTED CHOCOLATE SHAKE. It is not a thick shake by any stretch, but more like really cold and thick chocolate milk. Here's the recipe:
FROSTED CHOCOLATE SHAKE
3/4 c milk
2-3 Tablespoons HERSHEY'S Syrup
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 c vanilla ice cream
Maraschino cherry (optional - I leave this out!)
In blender container, combine milk, syrup, sugar and vanilla; cover and blend. Add ice cream; cover and blend until smooth. Garnish with cherry, if desired. Serve immediately.
Yield: One 10-ounce serving.
Try it next time you are in the mood for something chocolate-y! It really satisfies my sweet tooth.

Sounds yummy! I'll be back later with a hot chocolate recipe/tip. Must be a good day for chocolate drinks. : )
I'd love love love to find a good white hot chocolate recipe... anyone have one to share?
This sounds really good.
jessieleigh-
love the juice cube idea. have you ever frozen milk? I read on other frugal blogs about freezing gallons of milk, just wondering if you could freeze cubes of milk - or creamer... might add some calories that I know your littlest one could use!
Wow! Sounds great. I'm going to try to think of one for later--hopefully I'll be back!
Ryann- I have frozen milk before (in larger quantities, when I bought it on sale...), but not in ice cube format. I'm sure you could though! When I use milk to cool it down, it's usually cold enough just from the fridge. And the kids think those red cubes from the berry juice are way-cool. I take every opportunity I get to be rock-star mom! ;) On the other hand, frozen flavored creamers could be a whole lot of fun... hmmm..
LOVE chocolate shakes - I'll take mine with the cherry!
that sounds fantastic! i'm watching the debate right now and i'm so annoyed i'd much rather be making fun recipes like this! :)
Ok....now I'm thirsty!!!
